An Integrated Approach to Couples Therapy and Treating Relational Trauma

with Dorit Reichental MA, MFTi, ACC, ASAT, Certified ICF Life Coach

Dorit will be introducing an effective and progressive approach to sexual addiction as the outcome of attachment trauma. It departs from the traditional model of viewing sex addiction as similar to all other addictions, with the spouse as a codependent or co-addict, and instead assesses and treats the underlying trauma that is inevitably present. This approach, based on up to date understandings of attachment and trauma, has proven to be highly effective and healing, and is in high demand around the world. A longer version of this talk has been presented nationally and internationally.

Learning Objectives:

1. Understanding sexual addiction from a relational trauma perspective

2. The neurobiology of relational trauma

3. Couples therapy based on historical sexual addiction treatment models

4. Intimacy Anorexia

5. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Imago Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy as an effective way to conceptualize and treat relational trauma

6. Stages of couples’ recovery
