My exploration of the practice of mindfulness began only two years ago, but the concepts have been eye opening for me, impacting both my personal life and my work with clients.

During the past five years my approach to psychotherapy has evolved toreflect critical aspects of cognitive, depth, and liberationpsychology. I have been particularly drawn to support clients to engage their presenting issues as pivotal crossroads along theever-changing journey of life. By establishing that life is, and willcontinually be, undergoing change, I support my clients to engage the crossroad as one of many junctures that they'll encounter along thejourney of their life.

Wow, what a year we are looking forward to in 2010. We have many new faces to welcome onto the board and a few goodbyes to make as well. Let’s start with the welcomes:

I was rummaging through the top drawer of my desk the other day looking for something. Without thinking, I found myself picking up a cassette that has languished in that drawer for several years. The tape, "Making a Friend of the Unknown" by poet and author David Whyte (1997), seemed to be calling to me this particular day.

Even though I did not go away on vacation this summer (why leave paradise if you already live there?), I still love the energy that is present as folks return from their vacations and a new school year begins with supplies of notebooks, pencils, and pens stocking the shelves at local stores.
